AMD Engineers Honored for Outstanding Technical Achievements

Nearly 100 AMD engineers were recognized by Dirk Meyer for outstanding individual and team technical accomplishments at AMD’s 2007 Corporate Technical Recognition Event (CTRE) held in Coronado, California in October.

In addition to recognition, the CTRE also provides AMD technical leaders with an opportunity to personally interact with colleagues from all AMD locations, network and leverage best practices.

"I am proud of this group’s outstanding accomplishments and glad that we have been able to provide this forum to recognize those, and encourage the exchange of ideas with our colleagues from around the world," said Phil Hester, chief technology officer.

The guest list included those who recently received the prestigious "Fellow" promotion and those receiving a Significant Patent Award or the Corporate Technical Achievement Award (CTAA), as well as engineering colleagues who hold a "Senior Fellow" or "Corporate Fellow" designation. Fewer than one percent of AMD’s population holds a Fellow designation. In addition, Hector Ruiz stopped by to visit with and congratulate attendees during one of the evening events.

The CTAA recognizes significant technical contribution and it is the highest technical award at AMD. The recipients of this award must have demonstrated the innovation and/or industry leadership in technology that AMD is known for throughout the world. Inventors Rich Klein and Craig Sander were awarded the Significant Patent Award for Patent Issued US Patent No. 4,960,732. Patents that bring significant financial value to AMD are eligible for this corporate level award each year.
